Sote Hub
Sote Hub accelerates startups and consults for businesses across Kenya. Their website still described the student programme they had outgrown, so we redesigned it around the services they offer today.

Overview
Sote Hub is a non-profit that runs startup acceleration programmes and consults for businesses across Kenya. The website’s main users are startups, business owners and donors.
The challenge
The organisation had grown. It started out helping university and high school students find startup ideas early, but it now offered consultancy and acceleration programmes, and the website needed to show that.
Our goals were to:
- Help businesses and startups discover the services on offer today.
- Capture the impact Sote Hub creates in the community.
Running the sprint
We ran a design sprint to answer the key business questions: understand, define, decide, sketch, prototype, then validate with users.
As sprint master, I made sure every department was represented and briefed everyone in advance so they could clear their schedules for the week.
Understanding users
We built an empathy map (says, thinks, feels, does) and personas for startup owners and for investors and donors.
Ideation and sketching
Everyone wrote ideas on sticky notes and pitched them to the group. Some of the best ideas came from the non-tech team. We then sketched the redesign on paper, pulling straight from those ideas.
High-fidelity design
I designed and prototyped each page in Figma, shared it with the team and iterated on their feedback.
Outcome
The site was built in WordPress, tested and released. We keep iterating as user feedback comes in.
